Technology & strategy design for a satellite distribution platform
Econet is a diversified telecommunications group with operations and investments in Africa, Europe, South America, North America and the East Asia Pacific Rim, offering products and services in the core areas of mobile and fixed telephony services, broadband, internet, satellite and fibre optic networks. The company also has investments beyond the traditional telecoms sector, which include financial services, insurance, e-commerce, renewable energy, education, Coca-Cola bottling, hospitality and payment gateway solutions.
The Assignment
CastleMedia were engaged to help Econet Vision (a subsidiary of Econet) assess the potential of rolling-out a digital distribution platform in sub-Saharan Africa.
As part of the exhaustive assignment, CastleMedia worked on delivering information & technology strategy across all key aspects of the proposed platform including hi-level design for broadcast facilities; end-to-end business processes for SMS/Billing & CAS integration; STB requirements as well as content processing & management solutions.
